CICS is a charitable and multi-service agency that provides a wide range of cost-effective, culturally sensitive and professional settlement and community services in the GTA for over 50 years.

Settlement Services

Settlement Services

The Centre for Immigrant and Community Services (CICS) provides settlement services to help newcomers successfully adjust to life in Canada. Our experienced settlement workers offer information, guidance, and referrals to support individuals and families in navigating community services and building a strong foundation in their new communities.

Services are available in multiple languages and are delivered in different community settings to ensure newcomers can access support where they need it most.

Newcomer Settlement Services

CICS provides Newcomer Settlement Services at our agency locations. Settlement workers offer personalized support to help newcomers understand available services, access community resources, and develop settlement plans.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will be happy to provide information about current opportunities and guide you through the registration and onboarding process.

Services may include:
Play-based learning activities for children
Parenting support and information on child development
Opportunities for families to build community connections
Access to community resources and referrals

Settlement Services in Libraries (LSP)

Through the Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP) program, CICS provides settlement support in local public libraries. This program allows newcomers to access settlement information and community resources in welcoming and accessible spaces.

Settlement workers provide:
Information and orientation about life in Canada

Through the Newcomer Orientation Week (NOW) and Welcome and Information for Newcomers (WIN) programs, families receive guidance to better understand the Canadian school system and access community supports.
