CICS is a charitable and multi-service agency that provides a wide range of cost-effective, culturally sensitive and professional settlement and community services in the GTA for over 50 years.
Settling into a new country can be exciting and challenging, and we are here to work with you to manage your stress and worries. We are committed to taking on the wellness journey together with newcomers.
We embrace the fundamental principles of anti-oppression and anti-racism, as well as client recovery, when delivering our programs and services. This program is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Very often, there is a common misconception that mental health is equated with mental illness. However, mental health is more than the absence of mental illness; it refers to our emotional and psychological well-being.
It may be helpful to think of mental health as a continuum that ranges from mental wellness to unwellness. When you are in a state of mental wellness, you are able to manage your daily life in both good and bad days.
At CICS, we provide the following programs and services to support your mental well-being:
Talk to our social workers regarding any mental health concerns. We can support you in a way that is convenient for you, whether online, by telephone, or through an in-person meeting. Together, we develop a wellness plan to help you reach your goals.
Our Wellness Chat makes it easier for you to access mental health support. Our social workers offer a brief 30-minute virtual or in-person counselling session where you can talk about stress, anxiety, family issues, personal growth, and challenges in settling in Canada.
Through our support groups and workshops, we create a safe space for you to learn skills and strategies to stay healthy and positive.
